Itinerary

  • Upon arrival at Paro International Airport, you’ll be met by your guide and transferred to your hotel.
  • Begin your cultural journey with a visit to Paro Dzong, a grand fortress-monastery that serves as the administrative and religious center of the region. It offers a glimpse into Bhutan's medieval architecture and monastic life.

Visit the National Museum of Bhutan, housed in a former watchtower, which showcases Bhutanese art, artifacts, and traditional culture.

  • Drive from Paro to Thimphu (about 1.5 hours). The capital city of Bhutan, Thimphu is the heart of the country’s politics, culture, and economy.
  • Visit Tashichho Dzong, an impressive fortress that houses the main secretariat and the king's offices. It is also the summer residence of the central monk body.

Explore Buddha Dordenma, a giant golden statue of the Buddha located atop a hill, providing panoramic views of Thimphu Valley and offering a serene and spiritual atmosphere.

  • Start your day with a visit to Motithang Takin Preserve, home to the national animal of Bhutan, the Takin, as well as other native species. The preserve is a peaceful place to connect with nature.
  • Continue your journey by visiting Dochula Pass. Here, you’ll find 108 chortens (stupas) built in honor of Bhutanese soldiers. On clear days, the pass offers breathtaking views of the Himalayan mountain range.
  • Spend the afternoon exploring Thimphu’s local markets, where you can find traditional Bhutanese handicrafts, textiles, and artifacts.
  • After breakfast, drive to Punakha, Bhutan’s former capital (about 3 hours), nestled at the confluence of the Pho and Mo Rivers.
  • Visit the iconic Punakha Dzong, one of the most beautiful dzongs in Bhutan. This fortress is strategically located at the meeting point of the two rivers and serves as a place of worship, administration, and governance.
  • Explore Chimi Lhakhang, the temple of the “Divine Madman,” Drukpa Kunley, known for its blessings for fertility. The temple is surrounded by lush rice fields and offers a peaceful environment for reflection.
  • Visit the Punakha Suspension Bridge, one of Bhutan’s longest and most scenic suspension bridges, offering stunning views of the Punakha Valley.
  • Take a scenic drive to Gangtey Valley, one of Bhutan's most beautiful and serene areas, surrounded by rolling hills and meadows.
  • Visit the Black-Necked Crane Center in Phobjikha Valley. The center is dedicated to preserving the endangered black-necked crane, which migrates to Bhutan every winter.
  • Explore the Phobjikha Valley, known for its stunning beauty and the important role it plays in preserving Bhutan’s environmental heritage.
  • After breakfast, drive back to Paro (about 3 hours) to prepare for your departure.
  • Depending on your flight schedule, you can visit any missed attractions or enjoy some leisure time in Paro before heading to the airport for your flight back home.
